How to choose and how to use a scissor lift?

Choosing a scissor lift should not be taken lightly if you want to facilitate the maintenance of your car or those of your customers. This is a basic tool for easily lifting a vehicle. Using a scissor bridge is very easy to master if you follow the given steps correctly.
What is a scissor bridge used for?
A scissor lift or car lift is one of the most practical lifting systems when it comes to lifting a car. As the name suggests, it is used to lift a vehicle so that you can check or repair certain elements, mechanical parts or systems without having to lie under it using a ramp.
We can classify the scissor bridge into three categories, namely:
the pneumatic scissor lift,
the hydraulic scissor lift,
the electromagnetic scissor bridge.
The pneumatic model is recommended if you want to obtain a higher lifting capacity. Although its price is higher, it remains the most used version. If you have a fairly limited budget, it is better to choose a hydraulic scissor lift. In addition, it does not require much maintenance unlike two other types of lifts.
Choosing a scissor lift
We can also classify lift models according to the number of columns. The single-column model is intended for repair and maintenance of utility cars. Choosing a single-column scissor lift is recommended if you often have to perform localized work on the sides of a light car.
Otherwise, you must choose a two-post scissor lift to lift a vehicle with a higher weight while having easy access under the car. It is better to use a 4-post scissor lift to lift larger loads. Note that there are also double scissor bridges with a maximum height less than or equal to 1.10m.
The criteria for choosing a scissor lift are the lifting capacity, the lifting height and the integrated safety system. Also, do not forget to study the efficiency of the lifting system that allows you to control the movements made by the machine.
How to use a scissor bridge
The scissor lift stands out for its ease of use. The principle remains the same whether you decide to use a scissor bridge designed for under-hulling or a two-post version. On the other hand, as regards the models with a grip under the wheels, they work like a 4-post bridge. Using a scissor bridge does not require mastering a few basic concepts. You just need to follow a few recommendations and a few steps to avoid the risk of accidents. Moreover, this kind of ingenious tool can be handled by both an individual and a professional.
To begin, the air compressor must be started before connecting the power supply to the gimbal. The cabinet power indicator light should now turn on. When the hydraulic pump starts, it’s time to check if the levels of the platforms are the same.
After mounting the vehicle, the rubber wedges must be fitted. Start by lifting gradually with small pressures on the up button to test.
Then, raise the bridge to the desired position. When you have finished the intervention , check all the obstacles before lowering the vehicle while ensuring that the locks of each platform are synchronized.
The last step is to disconnect the power and turn off the air compressor.
